When should an iqama be renewed?
Renewal is possible up to three months before the card expires. We recommend renewing at least two weeks ahead to absorb any sudden gap in insurance or fee balance.
What is the fine for late iqama renewal?
The fine starts at SAR 500 for a first delay, doubles to SAR 1,000 on repetition, and on a third occurrence can escalate to deportation. The penalty falls on the employer, not the employee.
Can an iqama be renewed without health insurance?
No. A valid health insurance policy covering the entire renewal period is mandatory, and the system rejects the request automatically without it.
Can an iqama be renewed for less than a year?
Yes. Shorter periods of three or six months are possible depending on passport validity and available insurance cover, with fees calculated proportionally.
What if the iqama expired some time ago?
